Someone wrote a vent the other day about house guests and I wanted to add my woes to theirs. Is it just in Dubai that this happens? Obviously people love to come to visit more than if you lived in Bognor where the sun don’t shine! Don’t get me wrong we do get some genuine visitors who actually want to spend time with us and are here to see us. And with these genuine visitors I don’t mind that they do want to see some off Dubai whilst here, of course!! And I’m more than happy to show them. But I’m talking about the ones who just use you as a base whilst they galavant around Dubai, spending their money but making damn sure they spend yours when you are together. I just can’t get over it! They don’t even offer to pay for your coffee or the odd take out. They sit on their hands and make bill time so embarrassing, well for us, they don’t seem to bat an eyelid. I even had a case of ‘forgetting their money’ when we went to dinner, what if we’d forgotten too? What makes people think that its our duty to pay for them when they are here? Whilst it is cheaper for us to stay in, only marginally. Grocery bills these days are high and we can’t buy cheap plonk. Also if you are going to stay with us for a while, how about offering to cook dinner one or two nights? Shout a few groceries here or there? Bring some booze when you come. Honestly, I’m shocked at how tight and rude people become. Bah humbug. I’ll just Skype you from now on!!
