Why is it in life that nice people come last?
I don’t mean in everything, but I always notice that those that shout get served first. I totally understand that people do it to pacify the angry person, for example in a restaurant. Someone starts ranting that the food is taking too long so they rally round to find their order, which keeps them from attending to you, and will look at you apologetically, whilst you wait, as they deal with the angry individual.
But would it not be a lesson learnt, as we do with toddlers, to not serve them until they have calmed down? To deal with the nice person who is patiently waiting and not causing a scene? Would it not teach them that it pays to be nice.
I’ve witnessed it so many times in my life that I really think its worth a try! I was recently on a flight and asked the cabin crew, ‘Please when you have a min or are next passing could you bring some water’ and then never saw them again, because they were too busy getting whiskey sodas for the man complaining and demanding!
Please don’t teach me to become impolite, please teach them the reverse.
Just a thought.
