Don’t get me wrong, I don’t expect the world to stop and to be whisked off to Hawaii for the weekend. But something thoughtful this year would be nice. Something that shows you appreciate what I do for you and the kids. Something that would make me feel like you really care, that I am doing a good job.
It really is the little things that count. A cup of tea in bed. Maybe a lie in and you take the kids out for an hour so I can get some peace? Its all free or cheap stuff! A homemade card is lovely! The kids are too young to totally get it so you should guide them. I honestly don’t want much, just some recognition that I’m loved.
I know I’m setting myself up for a fall, last year was so bad that I cried when I went to bed. You had forgotten, deliberately or otherwise. No card, no tea, no break. Then you went off to play rugby and came back in the wee hours pissed. I think this year I may just buy myself something! Like a FU present.
Anyhow, Happy Mothers Day to all those mums doing an amazing job, and I hope that your Mothers Day will be special and full of love.
