I really like giving parties… grew up in hospitable households, happy to open our doors to friends and neighbours, happy to cook and offer wine etc. Happy to introduce people to each other. Seems natural to me.
But…. if we ask people, and ask them to RSVP – let us know if they’re going to show up, and they don’t do that… it means we are left very loose over numbers. And if several people do that, it can mean we are preparing loads more food than we need.
Yesterday, New Year‘s Day, TEN people just failed to show. It’s very rude.
And, further, of those who did come, and we had dishes of chicken pieces roasted… some people just put their chewed bones BACK ONTO THE SERVING DISH…. on top of the other chicken pieces. We had left bowls out for the rubbish….but they put their bones, which had been in their mouths, onto the serving plate. I am just speechless. Don’t they know about bacteria?
It’s so careless, so entitled. So arrogant and wasteful and arrogant. I am just horrified.
These are not (apparently) bad or rude or horrible people. Just thoughtless. Grrrrrrr!!!!!!!
