Why do parents think the electronic babysitters – television and games consoles primarily – work for the good of their kids?
I met a child yesterday really struggling to give his best at pre-school, with lots of aggressive, unco-operative behaviour. The staff shared with me the details of his home life, where
1) a lack of physical activity and
2) the over-use of screen time as a distraction abound.
Why can’t his parents, who despair of him, join up the dots?
Argh! This poor little chap at the tender age of 3 has the visible trajectory of a child who will be disaffected at school and will under-achieve as a result.
It’s not OK to limit children’s life chances in this way!!!
